The victims regained their freedom on Thursday, and returned home amid jubilation from residents of Sabon-Gyero community in Millennium City, Chikun local government area.

Investigations revealed that ransom payments and motorcycles were allegedly delivered to the kidnappers in exchange for the release of the victims. Sources disclosed that one of the pregnant women had regained her freedom about three weeks earlier, while the remaining victims returned home on Thursday.

Recall that armed bandits invaded the Sabon Gyero community during the last four days of Ramadan, killing one person and abducting seven others. The attackers also stormed a phone charging centre in the area, where they killed a young man identified as Abdullahi Lawal, popularly known as ‘Kurma’.

Residents said neighbouring communities, including Dokan Mai-Jama’a, Kyauta and Ɗan Hono-II in Millennium City, have experienced repeated bandit attacks several times this year, raising concerns over insecurity in the area.
